Custom Prototyping 3-D machining of Solid Steel for the Truck Engine Industry
With over 30 years of experience in precision manufacturing, clients in many industries turn to Dynamic Precision Tool & Manufacturing for their custom machining needs.
When a customer in the truck engine industry required a prototype journal bracket manufactured from a solid piece of 80-55-06 Cast Iron we were pleased to take on this job. This project began with our Mastercam 3D software and one of our many talented programmers. From there we utilized a Mazak CNC Turning Center and a Hurco CNC Machining Center to machine the highly detailed part. For the final precision grinding we used a Okamoto Surface Grinder, a Heald OD/ID Grinder, and a Moore CNC G18 Jig Grinder.
The final product measured 191.41 mm in length, 52.3 mm in largest diameter, and weighed 4.7 kg. Our highly precise work is demonstrated by the tight tolerances in this project, which were ±0.008 mm. The final product received extensive dimensional and visual inspections. The uncompromising quality of our 3D machining and precision grinding was demonstrated by the multiple standards this job met, including the precise specifications of our customer, rendered in a 3D CAD drawing. We also met industrial standards such as DIN ISO 13715 and DIN ISO 2768M. This project was completed with a turnaround time of just 2 weeks and delivered to our client in Roseville, Minnesota.
